British prosecutors have formally charged influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate with multiple serious criminal offenses, including rape, human trafficking, and actual bodily harm. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorized a total of 21 charges—10 against Andrew Tate and 11 against Tristan Tate—stemming from allegations involving four women. The charges relate to incidents that allegedly occurred between 2012 and 2015, primarily in Bedfordshire, England.
Andrew Tate, 38, faces accusations involving three women, including charges of rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for gain. Tristan Tate, 36, is charged with similar offenses involving one woman. Both brothers have denied all allegations.
In response to these charges, a European arrest warrant was issued in 2024, and Romanian courts have approved their extradition to the UK. However, the extradition process is pending the conclusion of ongoing legal proceedings in Romania, where the brothers were arrested in December 2022 on separate charges of human trafficking and rape.
Additionally, Andrew Tate is facing a civil lawsuit in the UK filed by four other women, alleging coercive control, including rape and threats with a weapon. These civil proceedings follow a previous CPS decision not to prosecute in 2019.
The CPS has emphasized the importance of ensuring a fair trial and has cautioned against any reporting or commentary that could prejudice the proceedings.
The Tate brothers, who hold dual U.S. and British citizenship, have been prominent figures on social media, known for their controversial views and online presence. Their legal challenges span multiple countries, including ongoing investigations in Romania and the United States.
